Can someone help me choose a microcredential or stack?

How do I complete an RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) assessment? 

IPA recognises your existing skills and experience through RPL. 

  • Apply here: RPL Assessment
  • You’ll get your results within 20 business days. 
  • You must enrol in at least one microcredential within 6 months of your RPL outcome, or you’ll need to reapply. 

What’s the difference between the IPA Global Certificate of Public Accounting and Deakin’s Graduate Certificate?

How long does it take to complete?

Up to 4,500 hours if completing all microcredentials without RPL. 
This can be reduced via: 

  • RPL 
  • Assessment-only enrolments 
  • Studying for CPD only (no assessments = no credential, but CPD hours still apply) 

Each course lists how many CPD hours you’ll earn. 

How many microcredentials are needed for IPA membership advancement? 

  • AIPA (Associate): ~16 microcredentials 
  • MIPA (Member): ~24 microcredentials 
  • FIPA (Fellow): Requires MIPA + 7 years' experience 
  • Total: 50 microcredentials make up the full GCPA. 

What level is the program?  

It matches AQF levels 7–9, spanning from undergraduate to Master’s level. 
Each microcredential is standalone and meets its competency goal. 

Is the program equivalent to a university degree? 

No. It provides a broader, industry-focused education and digital badges for each microcredential. It’s not a formal degree but aligns with national and global standards. 

What qualification do I receive from completing the program? 

You gain practical, globally recognised competencies that meet IFAC standards across 170+ countries. You’ll build skills in: 

  • Technical (finance, compliance) 
  • Professional (communication, problem-solving) 
  • Transdisciplinary (sustainability, digital, governance) 

Can school leavers enrol in the Global Certificate of Public Accounting? 

Yes. Anyone over 18 with secondary education and good English skills can start. You'll begin as an IPA Affiliate and receive free affiliate membership while enrolled. 

How are microcredentials assessed? 

  • Module quizzes: Multiple-choice, must score 80% to progress (unlimited tries) 
  • Final assessment: May include essays, case studies, video submissions, or live interviews 

What learner support is available? 

You’ll have access to: 

  • A trainer for academic support 
  • IPA member benefits: job boards, career advice, PD, networking, and mentorship 

Are scholarships available? 

Yes! IPA offers scholarships.

Can international learners enrol? 

Yes. However, IPA is not CRICOS-registered—so it’s not suitable for student visa holders. Still, learners from many countries can access the content online and become members.
