Skills Assessment Opportunity for Migrants

The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) is authorised by Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations to offer a free skills assessment opportunity for migrants as part of the Australian Government's Migrant Skills Incentives Program.

Skills Assessment Opportunities for Migrants (SAOM) commences on 28 February 2022 and ends on 16 June 2023.

You may be able to access a fast-tracked skills assessment if you have unrecognised skills in any of the four occupations:

Accountant (General) ANZSCO Code 221111
External Auditor ANZSCO Code 221213
Management Accountant ANZSCO Code 221112
Taxation Accountant

ANZSCO Code 221113

Having your skills assessed as suitable for Australian workplaces will improve chances of getting a job. Businesses and employers will have the confidence that you have the skills they need to do the job.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to apply for a free assessment you must:

  • Have not had a skills assessment in the priority occupation listed above
  • Be living in Australia when you submit your application
  • Be on a permanent family, partner, humanitarian, or refugee visa that was granted on or after 1 January 2016.

How do I apply for assessment?

Please send your SAOM application to us today. Should you require more information, please contact us by email: [email protected]

How long will it take?

It should take about 15 business days to complete your assesment once we have received all information we need from you.

Are there free skills assessments for other occupations?

There is a priority list of other occupations that skilled migrants can access free assessments. More information is available on the Australian Government Migrant Incentives web page.
