The IPA makes representations to Government including the Australian Tax Office, Australian Securities and Investment Commission, Australian Prudential Regulatory Authority, Treasury Tax Agents Board and the Attorney General's Department.

The IPA is represented on Curriculum Policy Development Committees of TAFE Colleges around Australia. The IPA contributed to Government in the development of an Australian youth traineeship program with an accounting focus. 
 
The IPA strives to provide a 'voice' for members in the media on issues affecting their profession, key staff within the IPA are available for comment and media releases are issued regularly.
