Process for new members
When applying to join us, you have two application options to choose from - a fast track online application, or a paper-based application that you can download, fill out and send to us.
A fast track online application
- Complete the fast track online application.
- Once you have completed the online application, you will receive an automated email, advising you of the steps required to finalise your application.

Your application may take up to two weeks to be assessed. This is dependant upon whether or not further documentation is required from you. If this is the case, we will assist by contacting you directly.
If your application is successful, you will receive your IPA membership certificate and welcome pack in the mail.
If you have been a member previously and would like to reinstate your membership or rejoin us, all you need to do is print and complete the Membership Reinstatement or Rejoin Application Form and post it to the IPA office in your state.
Applications for overseas members will be assessed with regard to academic qualifications and relevant work experience.
Overseas applicants with an Australian undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification will normally be considered meeting IPA membership admission requirement.
Applicants who are currently members of overseas accounting bodies which are themselves members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) will also normally be eligible for membership of the Institute of Public Accountants, and are accordingly encouraged to apply.
