Process for new members

When applying to join us, you have two application options to choose from.

Fast track online application

  1. Complete the fast track online application
  2. Once you have completed the online application, you will receive an automated email, advising you of the steps required to finalise your application.

Paper-based application 

Print and complete a Membership Application Form, and post it to your closest IPA office. To find our locations, please click here.

Please note that the application process incurs a non-refundable application fee. For information on our membership fees, please click here.

Your application may take up to two weeks to be assessed. This is dependent upon whether or not further documentation is required from you. If this is the case, we'll contact you directly.

If your application is successful, you'll receive your IPA membership certificate and welcome pack in the mail.

Process for returning members

If you've been an IPA member previously and would like to rejoin us, simply print and complete the Membership Rejoin Application Form and post it to the IPA office in your state.

Process for overseas members

Applications for overseas members will be assessed based on academic qualifications and relevant work experience.

If you currently hold membership of an overseas accounting body which is a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), you will normally be eligible for membership of the Institute of Public Accountants, and are accordingly encouraged to apply. 

In order to apply from outside Australia, please contact our International Division at overseas@publicaccountants.org.au.

Please note that the actual level of membership will be determined by the nature and level of academic qualifications and relevant work experience you hold.
