Minister for Small Business Address to IPA Congress

Federal Cabinet Minister for Small Business, the Hon Bruce Billson MP, officially opened the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) National Congress this morning at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort on the Gold Coast.

In his address to a full-house of conference delegates, the Minister congratulated the IPA for the strong advocacy effort the organisation continues to make on behalf of Australia's small business sector.

The Minister also congratulated the IPA members in attendance with recognition of their roles as trusted advisers to and partnership with small business.

"Without the enterprise of small business, we would not have an economy," said Minister Billson.

The Minister also talked of the numerous challenges and initiatives underway to support the health and prosperity of small business.  These included such things as the removal of the carbon tax and its impact on small business; dealing with the issues of regulatory burden; making sure that small business be directly involved in decisions made in Canberra; and, representation on key regulatory and influential forums such as the ACCC and Fair Work Australia.

The Minister also congratulated the IPA on its 90th anniversary.
