Tax reforms starting to move in right direction

Strong indications from the Government, to move on long awaited tax reforms have been welcomed by the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) today.

"The IPA congratulates the Government for delivering on its commitment to provide clarity and certainty regarding the backlog of announced but to date, unlegislated reforms," said IPA chief executive officer, Andrew Conway.

"Years of government investment in tax reform, including the Henry Tax Review, has resulted in little outcome and we are now seeing strong signals that true reform is back on the agenda.

"We look forward to the mature debate that the IPA has long advocated for, particularly in a more equitable tax regime that supports small businesses across Australia.

"We will continue to work with the Government in advance of the May Budget to progress the IPA's taxation proposals including a differential rate for small business," said Mr Conway.
